During the week of May 26, 2013, 7 Youth and Young Adultvolunteers representing AYAYA (The Akwa Ibom Youth and Young Adults) traveled to Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria to participate in their annual Children’s Day Activities.

 

Youth and young adult participants included Tracy Ekong- AYAYA Public Relations Officer (New York Chapter), Edidiong Okon (Maryland Chapter), 2013 Miss Akwa Ibom Esther Inyang (Chicago Chapter), Anthony Ikotidem (New York Chapter), Shalini Malaki- AYAYA Secretary (Maryland Chapter), Santosh Malaki (Maryland Chapter), and Inemesit Essien (New York Chapter).

 

During our trip we were able to visit 6 orphanages, 2 hospitals and a leprosy center.We were able to touch over 2,000 children with donations ranging from food and hygiene items, school supplies, and clothes. We humbly thank His Excellency, Gov. Akpabio and his staff for their support and assistance in our efforts, as well as everyone else who gave us donations.We are looking forward to making this an annual trip for years to come!!!
